What is Energy on the TRON network?
Energy is the TRON resource used to execute smart contracts. A USDT TRC-20 transfer is a contract call, so it needs Energy. There is no free Energy allowance: if you do not have enough, the network burns TRX from your balance.
How much Energy does a USDT transfer need?
About 65,000 Energy if the recipient already holds USDT, and about 131,000 if the address has no USDT or belongs to an exchange. The amount you send does not matter: 1 USDT and 10,000 USDT cost the same.
How much will I save?
Without Energy, a transfer to an active address costs about 6.85 TRX, and about 13.35 TRX to a new one. Renting the same amount of Energy is much cheaper — the order form and calculator on this page show the exact price and savings.
How fast does the Energy arrive?
Usually within 3–10 seconds after your payment is confirmed on-chain.
How long can I rent Energy for?
15 minutes or 1 hour. Either is enough for a single transfer — the Energy is used the moment you send it. Take 15 minutes if you are ready to send right away, and an hour if you need time to prepare the transfer.
Is it safe? Do you need my private key?
No private key or seed phrase is needed — only your public address. Energy is delegated using a standard TRON protocol feature (Stake 2.0), and we never get access to your funds. You can verify the delegation on TronScan under the Resources tab.
Which wallets are supported?
Any non-custodial TRON wallet: Trust Wallet, TronLink, Tangem, Ledger, Exodus, SafePal and others. Energy cannot be used on exchange addresses.
Why does Trust Wallet still ask for TRX?
Some wallets check for a minimum TRX balance even when you have enough Energy. Keep a small TRX reserve or use a wallet without this restriction.
Can I send USDT with 0 TRX in my wallet?
Yes, if you rent Energy (and Bandwidth if needed) in advance. Note that some wallets will not let you send a transaction with a zero TRX balance.
My transaction already failed with OUT OF ENERGY. Will I get the TRX back?
No. The network does not refund burned TRX, and nobody can compensate it. That is why you should get Energy before you send the transfer.
What happens to unused Energy?
When the rental period ends, the Energy returns to the service and the remainder is not refunded. Choose the amount and duration that fit your use case.
When is it better to just burn TRX?
Almost never, as long as you can spend a few seconds renting Energy. Burning only makes sense for an urgent one-off transfer when you have no way to pay for a rental.
